“Whenever the Morehouse College Glee Club performs ‘I’m Building me a Home’ it always speaks to my soul,” says Nicholas K. Young, Princeton Seminary MDiv candidate and Morehouse College graduate. The world-renowned college glee club performed in Miller Chapel on March 20 to a standing ovation.
Young has heard them perform multiple times. “Every performance represents the legacy of an institution that has changed the world. Members of the Glee Club are not only sustained by long hours of practice but also the prayers of the Morehouse College brotherhood. The creative approach used in each performance makes an everlasting impression on the eardrums of every person who hears the Glee Club perform,” he says.
The Seminary’s annual David A. Weadon Memorial Concert featured the Morehouse College Glee Club, the college’s premier vocalist organization. Founded in 1911 by Professor Kemper Harreld, the group has performed around the world.
Directed by Dr. David Morrow, the glee club is celebrating its 108th year of performances. “The Glee Club is endowed with dynamic vocalists who are dedicated to perfecting their craft and are directed by an expert in the field of choral performance,” Young says.
