Director of Digital Initiatives visits India to initiate digital collaboration

The Library’s Director of Digital Initiatives, Greg Murray, recently traveled to Kolkata, India to initiate a digital collaboration with the William Carey Library at Serampore College (pictured).
That library’s unique, at-risk archival materials, including early 19th century Bible translations in Sanskrit and numerous other Indian languages, will undergo digitization beginning in Fall 2018.

New edition: World Christianity as Public Religion

A new edition of World Christianity as Public Religion, edited by Raimundo C. Barreto Jr., Ronaldo Cavalcante and Wanderley Pereira da Rosa has been released by Fortress Press and added to the Library's collection.
The book was released in a bilingual edition in 2016, but the series was acquired, republished, and translated by Fortress Press in this new 2017 edition.
The forward is written by James Kay, the book contains articles by Luis N. Rivera-Pagán, Yvette Joy Harris-Smith, and Afe Adogame; and the work is dedicated to Donald M. Vorp, James Lenox Librarian (2012-2016).

Database Trial: Government, Politics and Law (HeinOnline)

This trial subscription, which runs until June 4, 2018, includes Religion and the Law, as well as several other subcollections.
January term runs through January 17

To support the needs of students in January term classes, the Library will remain open 8am-9pm on Monday, January 15. All other Seminary offices* will be closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The January term runs through Wednesday, January 17, 2018. (Extended due to an earlier snow closure.)
*Note: Both Special Collections and the Brick Café will be closed on January 15.

Interlibrary Loan Service Suspended
Interlibrary loan service will be suspended December 9, 2017 through January 1, 2018. The interlibrary loan request form will be taken down temporarily Friday afternoon, December 8 and will remain unavailable until January 2.
Extended Hours
The library will be open extended hours December 13-21. Some of those hours will be swipe card access only. Details are posted on the library hours page.
