Princeton Theological Seminary Library is a member of HathiTrust, a digital academic library, including both public domain and in-copyright works.

For help using the HathiTrust Digital Library, see this help page, video and info sheet (PDF) for Faculty, Researchers and Graduate Students.

You always have access to public domain items. Some in-copyright works are accessible through the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service.

While the PTS Library is closed, current PTS faculty, students and staff have access to over 111,000 in-copyright items in HathiTrust that overlap with PTS Library’s physical collections, through the Emergency Temporary Access Service.

Such access requires you to log in at HathiTrust’s website using your PTS email and password. You can also find and access HathiTrust in the Databases A-Z List.

You will be prompted to log in using the same credentials you use for other library resources. (If you have already logged in to another database in the same browser session, you will not be prompted to log in.)

Once in HathiTrust, you can search their holdings. The Emergency Temporary Access Service will give current PTS faculty, students and staff full-text access to any digitized text that we also have access to in print.

In other words, whenever HathiTrust's digital holdings match our print holdings, you will have access to that text. If an in-copyright book is available digitally through HathiTrust, the physical book is not eligible for curbside pickup.

You will not have access to the in-copyright collections of other libraries.

HathiTrust Items in the Library Catalog

Our access to HathiTrust is active now, and you can find links to HathiTrust items in the PTS library catalog. Here's an example.

Clicking such a link in the catalog will take you to that item in the HathiTrust digital library. If the item is in-copyright and you are not already logged in, you will be prompted to do so.
