Getting started

New self-service features in Summon include renewing and recalling books and saving searches.

Click Log In in the upper right corner to get started. If you have a PTS (Princeton Seminary) email address, use Campus Login to take advantage of all the new features, including saving searches. If you have already logged in to access an article, e-book or library database in your browser session, clicking Campus Login is the only step in this log in process.

If you do not have a PTS (Princeton Seminary) email but do have a Wright Library borrowing card, click on Library Login to access library card features including renewing checkouts. This login option will prompt you to enter your last name, library barcode (from your borrowing card) and PIN.

Watch Library Catalog Login on the Wright Library website or YouTube channel, if you are not familiar with this login method.

To save searches without a PTS email, click on Google (Google Drive) or Microsoft (OneDrive) in the list of Save Search options. If you are curious to learn more details about storing saved searches, we recommend the article “Summon: Saving Searches” in the Ex Libris Knowledge Center, https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com.

Saved Searches Demo

Simply do a basic or advanced search as you normally would and then click the Save Search button in the center of the screen above the search results. Once the search is saved, you have the option to give it a name. Click Done when you’re finished.

To access the searches you have saved, click on the View Searches button next to the Save Search button.

Here, you will see a list of your saved searches. You can re-run a search by clicking on its name on the left, or rename or remove a search by clicking on the options on the right.

Library Card Demo

Now I will show you how to view and renew your library checkouts in the new Library Card area of Summon.

Click on the Library Card icon in the menu in the upper right. To renew items, either click the Renew button to the right of the item or, to renew multiple items at once, click the checkboxes on the left and then the Renew selected loans link above the list of checkouts.

Authorized users can also recall (or request) books that are currently checked out to someone else.

When a book is currently checked out, its due date is displayed in the search result alongside its library call number and location. By clicking on the due date, you can open a panel display that includes a Request item button.

Click the button, add a request note (which is optional) and then click the Request item button in the Request book window to complete the request (also called a recall, because the book is being called back from its original borrower).
